Ferdinand Marcos’ US$987-billion loot!

February 6, 2011

In this vintage video, the proud and demented Imelda Marcos is showing a BBC journalist a treasury certificate under the name of former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos in a bank in Brussels… and it’s for 987 BILLION US DOLLARS!!! Marcos family is richer than Warren Buffett and Bill Gates combined if that’s the case…

To think, that’s only one bank.. he farmed out his investments in hundreds of banks around the world! Brussels is just a small financial haven, just imagine how much was in Switzerland & the Caribbean islands like Cayman, etc. In the 1950’s, it was revealed by a certain Tagle Marcos gold was world $30 trillion when gold was $35 per ounce, it is now nearly $2000 an ounce. Marcos is actually a quadrillionaire, & the known world economy is only $77 trillion

There is no Marcos gold. The money he has is money stolen from the Government, and the people, of the Philippines.

Nope. I find it hard to believe that he stole money from the Filipino people, why you say? In 1949 he had invested more gold than any person on earth, plus he won an international case winning more gold than anyone in the world combined. He won presidency on December 1965 he is massively rich already before he was president.

Marcos is actually a quadrillionaire, & the known world economy is only $77 trillion – seriously?! There’s a reason why gold is so expensive, it’s very rare ( law of supply and demand) also the total gold which has been mined in the history of man is only around 8.5 trillion dollars This is just Marcos propaganda to justify their ill gotten wealth.

I believe that the reason why Imelda Marcos is showing everyone the documents evidencing deposits in cash and in gold in various banks in the world is that she wants to show the world, especially the Filipinos that there are legitimate deposits made. If I remember it right, the reason why properties in gold or otherwise were taken out of the country is to safeguard the same from being taken away by the oligarch. Please note that even Ex-President George Bush, Sr. believed in this fact when he was asked who would he think is the richest man in the world. He said without batting an eyelash, President Ferdinand Marcos. Even Imelda agrees to the idea that such hidden wealth if recovered substantially, could be turned over to the Philippine government to be put into good use (i.e. to settle fully our outstanding local and foreign debts, develop fully our infrastructure projects, and other legitimate aspirations to benefit mostly our poor people. To know more about the extent of this wealth, please try to read it in the Wikepedia under the caption: “Marcos Gold.” Instead of putting the blame on the past, why don’t the current government talk it over with the Marcos family and cooperate with the latter to recover such wealth. There is no harm in trying isn’t it?

Legitimate my foot! They made themselves filthy rich, obviously they can buy the ‘LEGITIMACY” of those documents as well.

The documents are obviously fake. The GDP of the Philippines in 1986 was $30 billion, even the Marcoses could not have possibly stolen more than there was to steal. The stories about gold trading and rooms full of gold are lunatic fantasies. I know the Yamashita stories and the completely loony “Tallano gold” tall tale, but in reality there simply wasn’t that much gold, anywhere, and there’s no way on earth that Marcos could have got his hands on it. Of course the Marcoses are very rich: they stole an estimated $5-10 billion, much of which has yet to be found, let alone recovered… but the stories of hundreds of billions are just ridiculous.

Gold are real sir. why i said this. when i was assigned in the bicol region area i happened to meet a retired soldier according to him once served during the martial law years. i didn’t know either about the said marcos gold but this man told me in a serious way. when i said that i came from ilocos norte he ask me if i know marcos and i said of course i know him i am an ilocano. he said that marcos is very very rich and i ask him why he is very rich, and answered, truely my batalion in the army once carry crates of gold to seven ships on the port and those ship be sent to other nations. and the golds be deposited there.
I have watched the personal interview of mel changco, and an irish journalist to Mrs. Marcos and she showed gold bill of lading, evidence of deposits of gold to banks in other countries. The testimony of the man I met in bicol area supports the documents showed that there are lots of gold deposited by Pres. Marcos to foreign banks.

The alleged $987 billion loot by the late President Ferdinand Marcos is too large a sum to be disregarded. If that amount is true, the government should employ a diplomatic deal with the Marcos family for them to share a large part of it to the Filipino people. If I remember it right, Imelda Marcos had been saying before that the money were  taken by them to safeguard it from vultures in the society. Additionally, she promised to turn over the hidden wealth to the government at the right time and place. Imelda is now old and before she expires, she may do some spectacular thing that matters for the upliftment of the lives of the Filipino people. Apparently too, the Marcos children are not that greed to keep that large amount of money for themselves. They now lead simple lives and possibly no longer have that desire to live luxuriously like a King does.

If this ridiculous amount is true, the Marcoses will never be talked into sharing it. Why should they? They wouldn’t have been able to gain this much if they knew how to share. What they would do though is to remain in public office so that they could amass more money in their fat assess!!!

    • February 9, 2016 3:38

Yes, I have heard so much about the “Marcos Gold” which was given to him for his services rendered as a Lawyer of the Tallano Clan where in interview made with the World Bank Lady lawyer, she affirmed that the richest country in the world is the Philippines because of the “Marcos Gold” which ex President Marcos has prepared and intended for the development of the country and the filipino people, in the right time.

      • February 10, 2016 3:38

While reliable sources say that the original numbers of gold bullion from the Tallano clan have considerably declined over the years for unknown reasons, what is left of it is still large enough to significantly uplift our country and the Filipino people (as beneficiaries) from their present pitiful condition. Hence, why do others continue to throw mud at the remaining members of the late President’s family? Instead, why don’t we convince them (Imelda and children) to cooperate with the government to recover the missing Marcos wealth and share it with the administration and our countrymen?. We need to focus on the government first, in order for it to settle the country’s local and foreign outstanding debts. After which, for our government to begin the construction of massive infrastructure projects nationwide which shall be needed by us to attract the entry of foreign investments here. Additionally, in partnership with foreign investors, for us to fully develop untouched mineral resources like that of mining (Sagittarius mines in Surigao and adjoining provinces), the prospects of putting into action the delayed plans to activate the development of “deuterium project,” in partnership with other friendly nations. The costs of developing these delayed projects don’t require any capital investments from our government. All our government has to do is agree on the proposed division of earnings from the project’s operations, i. e. 40% for the developer/investor, 40% for the Philippine government, and 20% to be reserved for covering recurring expenses for the project’s operations including the Security of Investments with Government Guarantee, and a provision for a Tax and Duty Free Operation. Why don’t we try our very best to do these things, including other positive plans which are all designed for the ultimate development of our country and our people? As Theodore N. Vail says: ” Real difficulties can be overcome; it is only the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.”

The Tallano clan has no gold bullion, never did. They claim to have had more gold than has ever been mined in the history of the world, which is just dumb. Marcos stole the money, that’s all. And the “world bank lawyer” referenced is a certified nutter. She also claimed the World Bank was run by aliens, are we going to believe that too?

My only problem here is that the Presidential Commission on Good Govt. (PCGG) formed by Pres Cory Aquino under strong public urgings and pressure 30 YEARS AGO in 1986 FAILED IN ITS MANDATE to go after the so-called Marcos wealth. There has never been any conviction nor jailing of the “dictator” nor of his cohorts – a story too long to tell – but reflects the ROT OF OUR PHIL JUSTICE SYSTEM. Goodness, Cory could not even solve WHO KILLED NINOY, her husband (nor her own son now, Pres Pnoy)!! Our society is so corrupt and favors only the rich, the powerful and the privilege (and not only the Marcoses but the Aquinos as well…).
Solve nyo muna if there is REALLY a Marcos wealth, or a Ninoy killer… then maybe the spirit of the Filipino can finally rest easy! God bless…

Agree with your suggestion Mr. Ayjayar. However, there is a need for us to unify, to focus our attention on positive approaches geared to the fulfillment of established goals for this long-termed advocacy. As the Anonymous Author says: “There’s nothing so annoying as arguing with a person who knows what he’s talking about.”

    • February 9, 2016 3:38

Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos is still the best President of the Philippines because of the development programs and projects he has implemented, like San Juanico bridge, PICC, CCP, and many others. PCGG has not accomplished anything because they have no evidence that it is ill-gotten wealth (shame on you officials who claim it is ill-gotten wealth, try to research the history as to where it came from). Secondly, the Aquino family knew who killed Ninoy, that’s why until now they have not solved the issue. It was subject of an expose’ mentioning everything about the family, which I have read……. The father of all lies is the devil, and we know that the mission of the devil is: to STEAL, to KILL and to DESTROY… xx” John 10:10). At any rate , filipino people should not lose hope because God has allowed all of these things to happen, because at the end and it is anytime from now, blessings and prosperity are in store for all the good, sincere, honest and committed filipino people.

The wind turbines were built by a private company, not by the Marcoses. The company chose Ilocos because it receives strong steady wind, not because of the Marcoses. The main accomplishments of the Marcoses are theft, torture, murder, and national destruction on a truly historic scale.

Before you say ill-gotten wealth, study the sophisticated international banking trade system. Your problem you non believers is that you are not savvy enough to understand the world banking systems. You don’t have enough money to even bother with it. Also, understand that the old man Marcos was not stupid like you. He was very smart. All the family members are already set up for. Any other monies derived from his investments when properly disbursed,(meaning clearing all the necessary security codes and issues put on for protection)he had already reserved it for the Filipino people. There is an LOI for a foundation formed to perform
accordingly. Study Doy Laurel’s papers and statements. Cory had a chance to get these released. However, there is so much greed among the powers that took over that they all tried to get these Marcos wealth that some ofthem got thrown in foreign jails, and these were all kept hush hush. Embarrassing! Like I said, the old man Marcos was not STUPID. Some of you can’t even think in the same level.

I don’t believe everything I read online, that’s for sure. It’s not a fact unless it can be confirmed by multiple independent credible sources. Some of this stuff doesn’t even pass the basic credibility test. I mean, 987 billion? Get real. That’s more than 10 times the net worth of the current richest man in the world. Where would it come from? There is no legitimate business in the world that could yield a fraction of that without the whole world knowing about it, and not even Marcos could steal that much.
