Filipino Free-Farters’ EPIC FAIL!
Before a resident ‘plagiarist’ of the Filipino Freethinkers, a neo-mystic, neo-Nazi collective, produced a rip-off of various bash-Ayn Rand online articles, he made a daring, boastful, and egotistical announcement on the group’s crappy forum.
Karlo Espiritu, who wanted to please his nihilist colleagues by posting a plagiarized, copied, (call it what you will) entry on the FF website, started a topic on the group’s forum on March 24, a few days before posting his ‘borrowed’ masterpiece entitled What’s So Wrong With Objectivism, wherein he stated:
“Recently, I keep hearing about Ayn Rand and Objectivism, and so I decided to read about it to understand what’s the friggin’ fuzz all about. I even started to read about “Atlas Shrugged”. The novel was badly written but it has some powerful ideas. To make things short, I found out that Objectivism is just a philosophy, it’s not science. I repeat that …NOT SCIENCE!…One more time…NOT SCIENCE!” (Emphasis not mine)
Notice that this plagiarist claimed that he “started to read” the bestselling book of Ayn Rand—Atlas Shrugged— after “hearing about Ayn Rand and Objectivism.” The question is: How long did it take Mr. Espiritu to finish the 1,200-page Atlas Shrugged? Or did he ever see a copy of this so voluminous doorstop? In my case it took me at least a year to finish it, considering the fact that I was not that busy that time.
Since it seems that this lying plagiarist did not actually see a copy of Ayn Rand’s magnum opus, here’s a simple description: What I have is the 1,069-page 50th Anniversary Edition with about 6 or 7 font size.
How is it possible for Mr. Espiritu to read Atlas Shrugged, including Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead and The Virtue of Selfishness, in just a very short period of time? Is he also a pathological liar? You decide.
What Mr. Espiritu stated above is very clear— he wrote his ‘borrowed’ piece of junk because he “observed that a significant number of people in this community seem to be putting too much attention to personal attacks from a blog that promotes Objectivism; without a true understanding of the belief system.” So in short, his plagiarism was his answer to what I wrote about his beloved neo-mystic organization. Prior to this ‘copy-paste’ incident, I published a series of anti-Free-Farter blogs: Expose the Filipino Freethinkers as Enemies of Reason, Science, and Freedom; Filipino Free-farters: The New Mystics of Our Age; Filipino Freethinkers Versus Reason; Freethinkers or Free-farters?; Why the Filipino Free-FARTERS Would Love Universal Health Care?; and Of Utter Dishonesty and Misrepresentations.
And for the love of Filipino Freethinkers Mr. Espiritu did the unthinkable: plagiarism.
This is the reason why I’m very much interested in this issue. It shows that some of the most passionate residents of this neo-mystic collective are nothing but a bunch of nihilists, relativists, and anti-reason fanatics of statism. Also, their handling of this issue is so disgusting, as they allowed this resident plagiarist to revise his crappy blog. This is the reason why stated the following remark:
“Now the proposal to edit or revise the work of Mr. Espiritu is unthinkable. It’s an act of intellectual exorcism. You cannot bring the dead back to life! You cannot correct a mistake by making another mistake! Everybody knows that an act of plagiarism was committed, and your proposal to revise the article in question is a travesty. It is, in fact and in reality, a mockery of reason and logic.”
Some hardcore Free-Farters tried their best to tune out the issue by claiming: “But the FF is not a formal organization, and the fact that most of our readers – and critics – believe otherwise does not change this.” Yes, the FF may not be a formal organization, but the fact that it champions reason, science, and logic as it core values and advocacy, each of its member is expected to embody these ideals.
Dishonesty, plagiarism, and any kind of immoral or unethical conduct are part of “unwritten rules” in any organization that is engaged in information campaign. This is logic! It doesn’t have to post an anti-plagiarism rule in order to inform its members of the nature of this crime. Every first year high school student knows this rule!
Do some hardcore Free-Farters know the difference between an expository analysis and a term paper? What Mr. Espiritu published can be categorized as an expository analysis in light of his claim that he read the books of Ayn Rand and that he sought to debunk her philosophy of Objectivism. In an expository analysis, the fundamental idea, or the main gist, of an essay must be drawn from the personal understanding of the author. But this is not what Mr. Espiritu did, since almost 95 percent of his work was lifted from various online sources. Mr. Espirutu should have said,
“Hey! This is my crappy research paper about Ayn Rand and her philosophy. Go grade it!”
However, it seems that the FF resident plagiarist is wont to making lies and myths. In his last-ditch effort to save his face, he claimed that I have a “personal grudge” against him because of what he did. But only an idiot would buy his desperate claim.
It’s really interesting to observe how this issue metamorphosed from stupid claims and boisterous online fanfare to an insincere apology. Oh yes! This is how this guy pulled a sick joke on his credulous colleagues.
Mr. Espiritu’s plagiarism issue started with his post on the FF forum on March 24 (Cult: Ayn Rand, Objectivism, and the Cult of Personality), three days prior to the publication of his ‘borrowed’ masterpiece.
Now let me show you how some ecstatic Free-Farters reveled in Mr. Espiritu’s newfound skills: copying of other people’s works or plagiarism. Check the source HERE.
Innerminds (Wed Mar 24, 2010 9:04 am): “Hey Karlo, care to turn this into an entire article for the FF blog? We owe it to VB.”
Justin_aquino (Thu Mar 25, 2010 10:27 am): “Now you’ve done it, someone has “had” to write 5 posts in “defense” of Ayn Rand. Bad bad talaga itong Free Farting na to, Bisyo NA to!”
Innerminds (Thu Mar 25, 2010 1:27 pm): “@Vince: I know you’re reading this. What’s your problem with the FF? Are you resentful that we get a lot more readers than your pathetic blog ? And your pathetic attempt at drawing traffic to your site will only let your readers see just how myopic you are and draw them to us instead.”
My comment: But I don’t read crap!
Ram0nster (Thu Mar 25, 2010 2:00 pm): “As i have said before, there is no point in taking these Objectivists seriously. If there would be women who are inspired by Ayn Rand’s fictional works, then I’d suggest they instead explore Ursula K. Le Guin. If they are awed by the so-called fierceness and uncompromising attitude of Ayn Rand, think again because Emma Goldman can surpass her at any aspect.”
Karlo Espiritu (Thu Mar 25, 2010 10:47 pm): “I’m quite new to Objectivism but it seems to me Randroids are like any mythical creature or religious prophet. You never see them in real life but they’re everywhere online. I bet no decent individual would ever admit being friend with one…well, at least for the Randroid trolls I encounter so far.”— Oh… liar!
Karlo Espiritu (Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:25 am): “I already posted an article about Objectivism. So that I won’t feel I wasted my time reading about that bullshit belief system. LOL.”— LIAR!
Bratface (Sat Mar 27, 2010 11:16 am): “And I just read it. You sir, are awesome! Now we can expect eternal adoration and love coming from our randroid fan(s). *grin*”
Justin_aquino (Sat Mar 27, 2010 3:34 pm): “awesome article! Wow it didn’t take long to get a bite! I mean, whoah an objectivists understanding about math is amazing.”
Twin-Skies (Sat Mar 27, 2010 3:36 pm): “Interesting read. I appreciate that you took the time to put it all together – it was very inform.”
Innerminds (Sat Mar 27, 2010 7:52 pm): Thanks, Karlo! Great article, well-researched. Take that, VB!
My comment (They refer to me as VB): lol!
Justin_aquino (Sat Mar 27, 2010 9:37 pm): “Careful, VB gets a real hard on for attention. This is effectively wetting his pants. You know, given the page views and readership, I think the work to repair is beyond him, considering the “damage” Karlo has done. Although, I can’t imagine what possible writing skills he might poses. VB is just so Silly, Such Silliness. So sad, particularly his misunderstanding of Math. Really, Math of all basic knowledges. Grabe a 5th grader has a better grasp of it than him. Its really sad and I’m worried for his parents and future. How can he survive, without the aid of other people. I’m sure he is living alone with out the support of his mommy and daddy, if he isn’t such a hypocrite. Oh wait.”
Karlo Espiritu (Sun Mar 28, 2010 2:55 am): “UPDATE: Just added a new section — Objectivist’s Morality and the Virtue of Selfishness. I also added some additional resources at the bottom of the article. Check out the interview of Ayn Rand Intitute’s head, Leonard Peikoff and see how you can possibly defend his statements. Thanks for comments. If you see some factual inaccuracies, typos, link errors, or grammar errors. Just let me know. Thanks.”
Justin_aquino (Sun Mar 28, 2010 11:01 am): “Have you seen the Comments? Grabe, ang haba. There is no real way to argue with them. they would have saved on word count if they can prove their arguments than explain every little disagreement. One of the reasons Metaphysics is a pain on the ass.”
Sinisterspark (Mon Mar 29, 2010 12:59 am): “That was a great writeup. We’re going to be waiting for a special Karlo-dedicated free-farter article soon in blogs near you!”
Justin_aquino (Tue Apr 06, 2010 10:22 am): “Thanks Karlo. Its funny that they think they’re scientific, but if there was any practical truth to their “beliefs” then they would have thrived. A truly scientific based reasoning thrives, despite efforts to dispell it or to muddy the waters, because everyone can come to the same conclusion with the right tools. As True as Freemarket lets the Strongest Survive, they are clearly NOT the most fit ideas.”— The sick guy again… lol!
Innerminds (Tue Apr 06, 2010 11:56 am): “Hey Karlo, care to write What’s So Wrong With Objectivism PART 2 – Objectivism in a Nutshell? I haven’t yet compared your FF blog article to what you just posted above, but if they are not redundant, I suggest you turn the latter into yet another article. By the way, your What’s So Wrong With Objectivism was very popular. From March 29 to April 4 alone it got 355 hits! And since it was published on March 27, the stats for the first two days was not yet even included in those 355 hits! Can Randroid’s blog beat that? Congratulations at Mabuhay ang Free-Farters!”
My Comment: Dream on…
And Karlo Espiritu’s fame and the Free-Farters’ fanfare suddenly came to a bitter, most embarrassing end… Sigh…
Karlo Espiritu’s last hurrah: “There seems to be another fuss about this topic. I also posted the following response in the FF wall.”
